Side Attraction: Maker Faire!

This is one place I'd love to go to some day. It's an inventor's heaven, a place where ideas coagulate to form projects, and is the modern day renaissance for every day living. This weekend in San Francisco, California, this amazing faire will be held and thousands of makers from across the globe will convene! Check it out if you can!

Currently using: OpenSUSE 10.2 64 bit and Windows Vista 64 bit RC1 Build Dual Boot

=AWESOME!

For those non-techies out there, I am using a computer that can run both Linux (OpenSUSE in particular) and Windows Vista. OpenSUSE is a step up, I believe, from Ubuntu, which I recently was using.  OpenSUSE automatically configured and used my TV tuner card straight from installation, which is pretty flipping sweet.

 Currently reading: Freakonomics

Freakonomics is a pretty sweet book that explores different sides to economics that affect the modern day world.  Find out what is more dangerous, a gun or a swimming pool, or what sumo wrestlers and teachers have in common.  A good read!

Currently using: Blender

Blender is an open-source 3D graphics designer.  This program is basically a free version of 3ds max, another 3d graphics designer that costs a heckuva lot of money.  You can make movies out of anything you create with it.  Download here.

Currently playing: Super Mario Bros. 2.5D

This is a "new perspective" on the orginial Super Mario Bros. on the NES.  The maker made the 2D world of Super Mario Bros. and made it have different views during play.  Worth a download! Download here.

Currently usingJahshaka

Jahshaka is an opensource video editing program (which basically means that it is free and awesome).  My friend told me about it, and I am currently testing this out.  It looks good, and I recommend it to any of those video editors out there.

Currently playing: Plasma Pong

Plasma pong is a remake of pong using fluid dynamics.  That basically means that there are really sweet effects with a "plasma" like substance.  In this new version of pong, you can force the ball towards your opponent using a stream of plasma, and also draw the ball in with a vacuum.  Check it out!
